BW Rheine
Bahnbetriebswerk (BW) Rheine in North-West Germany was once a maintenance depot for the big steam locomotives of the German railways. It closed in 1977 when the DB retired the last steamlocs. When I was here in 2011, a carcass was all that’s left. All the rails and the turntable had been removed. Only the roundhouse and a personnel building were left, although in bad shape. Judging from the Google satellite photos in 2022, these buildings are still there at the south end of town.
